Mt. Carmel Athletic Jackets and Letters

The earning of a high school Varsity Letter should be one of the proudest moments a high school athlete has as a student.  The wearing of the Mt. Carmel Varsity letter should be a symbol of both pride and responsibility.  Where ever you wear it, people will know that you are a athlete, what sport you are in, and that your are a representative of Mt. Carmel.  Recently, athletes have started to create MC athletic jackets in different colors and styles that are not acceptable to our school.  With that in mind, the following are the standards for athletic jackets and letters for the MC Athletic Program.  When you sign the athletic guidelines you are signing that you agree to follow the school standards.

  1. The Mt. Carmel Varsity jacket will be a scarlet jacket with scarlet sleeves.  The knit ribbing on the jacket will be scarlet with gold and white trim.   No other color is acceptable for the Mt. Carmel Varsity jacket if it is to be worn on campus and a MC Varsity Letter is to be worn on it.
  2. The Mt Carmel Varsity letter is to be secured on the left hand side of the jacket.  Numerals showing the graduating year are to be sewn on the left sleeve and are to be 3” tall.  Letters from other high schools are not to be displayed on the Mt. Carmel Varsity jacket.
  3. If you want to put your jersey number/identification number/event description on your jacket that is on the right side in a 3” tall letter or number.
  4. Personal names on the back of the jacket should be 2” and in all caps.
  5. All letter awards in athletics will be earned. Letter awards can only be earned by participating in varsity contests. In order for a player to letter, minimum standards and requirements must be met. Coaches will inform their athletes of their lettering standards at the beginning of their season at sport.
  6. A Letter and pin will be awarded to each athlete the first year he/she Letters. Each subsequent year that the athlete Letters he/she will receive a bar and certificate.
  7. There shall be a certificate awarded to any athlete for participating on a freshman or a junior varsity team, not a letter.
